Starting a third-party logistics (3PL) business traditionally means investing in expensive warehouse management software, custom API integrations, and months of onboarding setup. Most small warehouse operators give up before they start.
There's a simpler way. If you already have warehouse space and staff, you can launch a functioning 3PL operation using Shopify and Order Fulfillment Guru — tools that are fast to set up and easy to manage without a tech team.
📦 The Opportunity
- The 3PL market continues to grow as more Shopify merchants hit the point where self-fulfillment no longer makes sense — typically around 10–20 orders per day
- Most small 3PLs lose clients not because of poor fulfillment, but because of poor visibility: merchants can't see their inventory levels or order status in real time
- Traditional 3PL software is expensive, complex, and built for large operations — leaving a wide gap for simple, Shopify-native alternatives
- With Order Fulfillment Guru, the warehouse pays nothing — merchants cover the app cost on their end. Of course, you can also pay on behalf of the merchant, just let us know
🔄 How It Works
This is an Order Receiver model — merchants send orders to you, you pick, pack, and ship.
- You create a Shopify store for your warehouse and install Order Fulfillment Guru as the Order Receiver (no paid plan required)
- You create a Group in OFG and invite your merchant clients — they install OFG on their own Shopify stores as Order Senders
- You configure Product export so the correct products and inventories are sync to the merchant
- Merchants list and sell your stocked products on their websites
- When a customer places an order on a merchant's site, it automatically appears in your Shopify store as a new order
- Your team picks, packs, and ships using your existing Shopify workflow
- Tracking numbers sync back to the merchant's store automatically — their customer gets notified without any manual work
- Your inventory levels update in real time across all connected merchant stores
No custom software. No API developers. No complicated onboarding.
